Transformation of Information Technology
(One layman's perspective with over 40 years of experience)
I was reading a good article the other day about Digital Transformation. While I was reading it, I was reminded of all of the things I experienced in the last 40 years. Since I love "mind maps", I decided to capture some early History I learned a long time ago as well as some key items I experienced in my career. If you have 20+ years of experience either Managing or Working with Information Technology professionals - some of this will bring back memories. If, on the other hand you have less than 20 years - then some of this may seem strange, but click on some of the items to learn a little more. I will try to update this over time, but for now, enjoy a look back in time and remember these key issues have only grown more in importance over time: Sponsorship (Exec Level), Value, Adoption, Integration, People, Processes and Technology (all are key to success).
For example: Did you know the first computer programmer was a woman? In 1947!
How to follow this mindmap graphic: Think of a clock, start reading at the 1:00 position (History) and work your way around (Hint: click on each to see more). Scroll down for a few comments. Let me know if you have a significant item you think I should add.
You can also click on the center "Transformation of IT" to see the overall summary (with links to each) - but, it is more fun to see the progression by year!
